Dr. Maxine Harvey, D.O.
Dr. Maxine A. Harvey, D.O. is proud to provide ophthalmic clinical and surgical eye care to members of the La Pine and surrounding central Oregon communities. Dr. Harvey was born and raised in South Africa. Her family moved to Oregon in the mid 1990s.
Dr. Harvey earned her bachelors degree from Scripps College in 2006 and her doctorate from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University California in 2013.
After serving nearly 10 years on active duty in the United States Army, Dr. Harvey has returned to Oregon. She continues her military service as an active Army Reservist, supporting a Head and Neck Surgical Team, while also providing ophthalmology services at the VA Clinic in Bend. While preparing to open Central Oregon Ophthalmology in La Pine, Dr. Harvey has also been serving the residents of central Wisconsin and Montana, as a locums ophthalmologist.
Training & Qualifications
Medical Education
Dr. Harvey completed her internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. After spending 2 years as a general medical officer, including a deployment to Afghanistan, she began her ophthalmology residency training at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Hospital Education Consortium (SAUSHEC).
Surgical Residency
Dr. Harvey completed her ophthalmology residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington State, where she was co-chief resident. She then stayed on as a faculty member, teaching and mentoring ophthalmology residents, while also staying up to date with the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
Certifications
Dr. Harvey is board-certified in comprehensive ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the Women in Ophthalmology national society. She has published in various medical journals and presented at national conferences across the country.
Back Home
Not only is Dr. Harvey passionate about her patients and their care, but she also is committed to family, food and friends. It is her love of family and nature that has brought her back to our neck of the woods. You can find Dr. Harvey and her family fishing our local rivers, mountain biking the trails or skiing on the mountains.
Dr. Harvey is honored and thrilled to be providing a much needed medical service to the people of La Pine and surrounding areas. She feels blessed to have provided eye care to our nation's heroes and their families as an Army ophthalmologist and now looks forward to continuing her excellence in care for you and your family.
